From the City of Saints to the City of Light
New on the scene, Francis Can Fly is the passion project of a fairly mature fellow: Francis. A man born in Montreal, Canada, around the time when the Fab Four were preparing to take the world by storm. Vintage Francis now lives in the vicinity of Paris, France, where he settled in the early 1990s.
Hailing from the sphere of television and filmmaking, Francis embraced songwriting and music production at quite a late stage of his life. For years, though, he kept his new pursuit rather confidential, only venturing a handful of submissions to songwriting competitions. Then, unfortunate circumstances led him to shelve his musical project indefinitely.
But the stars aligned again some time later, when Francis’ new life companion persuaded him to rekindle the fire and work towards getting his songs out into the open.
That is not lost that comes at last
Now that he has taken the plunge, Francis would of course be thrilled to see his songs gain some public exposure and recognition. But he also regards his Francis Can Fly project as a great opportunity to simply join in the dance, try and defy the odds, and hopefully inspire other unknown, atypical musicians – late bloomers, lone riders, shadow artists – to chance their own luck and see in turn the light of day… As the great poet Chaucer first wrote in 1386: Better late than never!
